A friend in the caregiving industry offered to give me a self-care inventory. He called it a snapshot of my current reality. It seemed less intimidating than a survey, questionnaire, or assessment. It covered eight general areas of life and ministry. Two questions that caught my attention were about sleep habits and water intake.
It’s been a year since that conversation, and I appreciate those questions quite a bit.
Have you ever had sleep issues? It can be quite a turmoil to figure out. Doctors ask why you’re having trouble sleeping and if there is any anxiety or stress. That seems to set off an ominous cycle, causing more stress, anxiety, and too much self-awareness.
In a conversation with one of our CARE Team members, we talked about strategies to recover from seasons of sleeplessness and occasional insomnia.
One cause we discussed is when we internalize our thoughts, stresses, disappointments, and angst. One solution might be to learn to vocalize our vulnerabilities. What are some solutions you could offer?
