Dear Friends of NU Oregon,
It is with great sadness that we bring you this update to inform you that NU Oregon will be permanently closing at the end of this semester. Our current students, staff, faculty, and supporters have been notified. The official announcement was released this week to all university employees.
While we are deeply saddened by this change, we trust the Lord and his plans for Northwest University as our leaders make needed changes to ensure further effectiveness and stability for the future. We also trust the Lord to give direction and provision to our students as they continue to pursue His plans for them, to our staff for their next assignments, and to the continuance of leadership development in the state of Oregon by whatever means the Lord provides. Even in the midst of grief and uncertainty, the Lord is near and sovereign over all things.
We plan to make the most of our time with students over the next several weeks and equip them for online learning or another modality of their choosing. We will worship together, grieve together, make memories, and celebrate all that the Lord has done. We plan to invite alumni and friends of NU Oregon to our final chapel and Grad Dinner at the end of the semester. If you desire to stay updated, please continue watching our social media platforms for further details.
Thank you for your support and prayers during this time. If you have any questions, please contact us at oregon@northwestu.edu or (503) 304-0092.
Grace and Peace,
NU Oregon Staff
Stepping into the unknown is, for most people, a bit unnerving. NU Oregon Campus students are courageously moving into a new mode of education as they switch to online classes after the Oregon Campus closes at the end of the current semester in December. But they are not doing it alone.
Oregon Campus staff are using the rest of the semester to prepare students to thrive together in their online classes. Combining best practices from educational research with insights from students’ individual learning styles, Myers Briggs Type Indicator©, and CliftonStrengths© data, the staff is introducing students to the format they will be using and guiding them to develop habits and skills that will help them continue to learn well. They will meet their new advisors and discover the resources available to support them in the online modality.
Peer support is critical to learning, so students will have opportunities to schedule regular meetings with classmates from the Oregon campus who are in their online courses. They will be able to discuss their classroom learning and questions, and process material together.
In addition to preparing for academic success and personal support in the new format, students are continuing to engage with God’s presence in transformative ways during the weekly Oregon campus chapel services through December 12. If you would like to attend one of our chapels, just contact Dr. Lamm Bray (debbie.lammbray@northwestu.edu) to request the schedule.
Alumni of the Oregon Campus: Mark your calendar for December 12 and plan to join us for our final chapel. It will be a slightly longer gathering than normal, from 1:00 to 2:45 pm. Please RSVP to oregon@northwestu.edu so we can prepare an appropriate amount of seating.
A note from Pastor Lee:
Our commitment to training leaders is unwavering and integral to our culture. We will continue to offer training programs, mentorship, and continuous learning opportunities, as we empower individuals to cultivate their leadership skills. Our commitment extends beyond just developing leaders; it encompasses dedication to fostering a culture of leadership excellence, ensuring that our values and vision are perpetuated for years to come.
