Psalms 81:10
Have you ever witnessed a mama bird feeding her chicks? If so, then you know when the mother-bird brings food to her chicks, she never has to convince them to open their mouths wide. No, her babies’ appetite and eagerness are never lacking. In Psalms 81:10 God made a big promise to His people. If they would believe God and open wide to receive His provision, God would provide. This tells us God is faithful and we can’t open our mouths wider than He can fill. He will always satisfy the hungry soul.
I love what Charles Spurgeon wrote… “Our cup is small, and we blame the fountain.” We must stop blaming the fountain and learn to open wide when we feel empty. Open wide and ask God for big things. Open wide and realize the greatness of our God. Open wide and expect Him to satisfy our hunger. We can never over-expect from God. This is what the Apostle Paul was trying to teach us in Ephesians 3:20, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” God is only limited by our own lack of faith, desire and obedience.
May we learn this lesson from the little baby chicks, open wide and receive all God has for us. His fountain is enough, but we must bring a larger cup. What are you asking Jesus to do? What are you imagining God will do?
