Women in Ministry August Update

David Kennedy
 •

Well, here we are in August. What an amazing summer we have been having, how about you? We’ve been blessed to take a road trip with our son and daughter-in-law to California to celebrate their 20th anniversary. We had so much fun. We figured it was the most one-on-one time we had spent together since Luke was born. It was a delightful time.
Then we had our cousins from England come and spend a week. It was an action-filled week but filled with making memories. Highlight was getting my Mom in the car and all of us, including my sister, Moira, and going to Depoe Bay. Weather was perfect. Mom loved it. (We never know how many more trips to the beach with Mom we will have). As I write this we are getting ready to head to Florida for CEP meetings, Executive Presbytery meetings, Influence Conference and General Council. It will be lots of sitting.
This year I joined a church group in going through the New Testament. I’ve learned to go slow, read all the words, digest them and ask myself how do I apply what I’ve read. I’m learning to take one day at a time and try to live more intentionally. Listening rather than talking. Pursuing a more purposeful prayer life. It seems like in the last couple months we have been inundated with prayer requests, so daily trying to call each request out by name. Asking the Lord how to specifically pray for the need. Love spending time throughout the day praying for others. God is faithful!
What are you reading in the Word this summer? Who are you praying for? I’m encouraging everyone to make sure we’re not too busy to spend time with our Heavenly Father.
A couple of things to share for upcoming events
Intermission | October 21-23

Bo Stern-Brady is our speaker for the women's session.
She will bring an anointed word to us.
Inspire Conference

We're committed to raise $5,000 for the Inspire Project and would love your help in raising these funds!
Oregon Garden Getaway

An event for ladies who serve in any capacity of leadership in your church. Sunday school teachers, youth leaders, children’s ministry leaders, girls leaders, women’s ministry leaders, women pastors, worship leaders and the list could go on. Call Jasmine Linebaugh at 503.393.4411 if you have questions.
This year we will be doing the registration for the event and then you will be responsible for housing. You can book rooms for yourself and those coming from your church at the Garden or hotel of your choosing. You could do Airbnb, VRBO, whatever suits your group. Registration for the event is $70. This includes Friday night dinner and dessert. If you decide to stay at the Gardens, it will also include breakfast.
We are separating lodging from the registration for the event to make it easier for you to sign-up your own people and do your own housing arrangement.
It’s going to be an amazing event with workshops for enrichment and we are bringing in an amazing speaker, Liz DeFrain, from Pennsylvania. You will want to encourage your ladies to come for this incredible time together.
February Ecuador Trip with missionary Laurel Ellis

We need $7,500 for this event ("Night to Shine" and pastor's wives retreat).
If you have signed up or made a pledge for either of the missions’ events, please begin to send in your checks to help. Every little bit helps. Together we achieve more! Looking forward to seeing you all. Make sure you tell your ladies about the Oregon Garden Getaway in March.
