It is with sadness and yet excitement I make the following announcement. After twelve years of faithful and fruitful service, some of our Youth Alive Missionaries Wes & Carrie Sheley, will be concluding their service as US Missionaries to Oregon Public Schools. Wes & Carrie have made an enormous impact in the lives of thousands of students and the schools they attend, as well as countless communities in Oregon. I am very grateful for their service to our churches. Thou I’m sad, I’m also excited for the new assignment the Sheley have accepted, and that they will continue to serve in the Oregon Ministry Network. Now I will let Wes tell you the rest of their Big Move Story.

It is hard to believe that we have been serving as U.S. Missionaries for the past 12 years. Over the years we have been able to bring the message of Hope onto the school campuses through a variety of ways. Such as School Assemblies, Campus Clubs, Campus Missionaries, Volunteerism, School Adoption Projects and churches having a constant presence on the local campus. There is no way that this could have taken place without those that have supported us over the years through prayer and support. I cannot express how much our friendship and partnership has meant to me over the years. For many of you I have had the honor to share stories over the years of the impact we have had on school campuses. Those stories would not be possible without YOU...THANK YOU.
This decision is bittersweet for us. I have loved my time as a missionary and thought I would be doing this for the rest of my life. I never thought that heading into Pastoral ministry would be in my future. Through a yearlong discussion process with Pastor Phil Carney we sought the Lord for guidance for the church and for Youth Alive. Over this past year we have seen God open doors and close doors. With that said we are excited about the door that has opened for us to serve in Pendleton, Or.
We will continue to champion reaching schools and be a huge advocate for Youth Alive and its mission. We will end out U.S. Missions account sometime in June. I ask that you would keep us on monthly support until then. This will help us continue to minister through the transition and help with our ministry commits that we will follow through with. I will continue to run our non- profit Impact 24-7. We will continue to partner with Tom Bachman and help with scheduling and providing school assemblies. We have 2 full weeks already scheduled in the fall and we are looking forward to continuing to help be a resource to reaching students.
I Pray that the local church will continue to champion students to reaching students. I pray that our schools will continue to be open for the local church to have a presence on the local campus. I Pray that every church will see growth because of living life with the families connected to the local campuses. I believe NOW is the time to see a great revival in the Northwest which will be started on our campuses and I’m excited to be a part of this movement by being connected to a local church.
Once again thank you for your support in prayer and finances over the last 12 years. I can confidently say that the Kingdom of Heaven has grown because of your heart for missions and the campus. With Love, The Sheley’s
