So in Christ we, though many, form one body,
and each member belongs to all the others. Romans 12:4
Recently Joy and I received a handwritten note from one of our amazing world missionaries who wrote, “I am so blessed to be a part of the OMN family!” They went on to list a number of reasons the OMN family had been such an encouragement to them over the last year.
In reading the personal note, I was reminded of the value of being C-O-N-N-E-C-T-E-D to the greatest group of people in the world, the people of the OMN. God has blessed us with talented, anointed, dedicated and creative individuals who are leading and modeling the faith. I am so glad we are not doing this alone.
Being connected is essential for any of us in ministry. The Book of Ephesians spends a tremendous amount of time emphasizing the value and vitality of being united to each other. Paul stresses both in Romans and in 1 Corinthians the significance of being linked by using the human body as an illustration.
The challenge for us all is to stay connected with each other. The temptation is to say, “I’m too busy,” or “My schedule doesn’t permit this time.” It has been my observation that this can be dangerous and even destructive. In a recent conversation with an independent pastor, he shared that one thing he was desperately missing was feeling connected. He said, “I feel all alone out there.” This is not what God intended for any of us in ministry. I believe he wants us to be connected.
In 2019 our OMN theme is PURSUE. I am going to encourage you to PURSUE encouraging and enriching relationships with ministers in our OMN family this year. Let’s strengthen our connections.
By the way, in February, your OMN Team will be traveling throughout the state on what has become known as our CONNECT TOUR. This tour is an opportunity for all ministers and local church leaders to gather in their region. This year’s schedule will feature some helpful and encouraging sessions, including a special presentation by Tim Enloe on Pursuing the Work of the Holy Spirit Today. In addition, we will enjoy a meal together and some team building activities. I’ll look forward to record numbers attending one of the eight locations. You can sign up today on the OMN website.
