Grieving the loss of Rick Ellis & Jim Billings

It is with a deep sense of loss and a heavy heart that we share the unexpected passing of two members of our missionary family. On Sunday Rick Ellis was in a serious motorcycle accident and passed away. Laurel survived and and is recovering in a hospital in Concepción, Chile. Monday evening, Jim Billings suffered a heart attack and stepped into the presence of the Lord. Both of these men were outstanding missionaries who served the Lord with gladness and a deep sense of commitment.
The grief we feel is almost inexpressible, and yet we do not grieve like people who have no hope. Fortunately, comfort and consolation are found in the hope of the resurrection. One day we will be reunited with family and friends who have preceded us in death. Paul admonishes us to encourage one another with these words (1 Thessalonians 4:18).
Once we receive word from the families about the memorial services for Rick and Jim, we will communicate that information to you. In the meantime, please join with the entire OMN family in praying for Laurel’s recovery, along with the Ellis and Devin families in their loss along with Thelma, Jim Jr., Pam and their family.
