This is the Season of OPPORTUNITY. A host of open doors will come your way this month. You will be given the opportunity to declare the love of God through sermons, devotionals, sharing, music, acts of service, and one on one conversation. This month your community will be looking to you and your local assembly to help them understand and celebrate Christmas. People will be anticipating singing Christmas Carols, hearing the Christmas story, and celebrating communion.
It is a perfect time to let them know of the unforgettable gift that God has given them. So, this month, go for it. It has been said, If a window of opportunity appears, don't pull down the shade. Amen! Amen! Declare without reservation or hesitation the true reason for the season. Seize your opportunity.
John 3:16-17
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
A few years back the Birmingham Post Herald carried the story of Allison and Kelly Smith. Their mom lived in Detroit and had sent their gifts ahead to be opened on Christmas Day. The girls, grown women decided to pull a prank on their mom. They exchanged the gifts, rewrapped them, and then carried them to their family gathering in North Carolina. On Christmas morning, you can only imagine the mother’s response when the girls opened up their gifts, saw they were not the original “Liz Claiborne Purses” she had purchased. But Allison and Kelly got a little jolt when their mother asked if they had found the $200 she’d tucked into each bag. A friend back in Birmingham was called and was first in line on the 26th. She helped the store manager go through each purse in the store to finally recover the money. They had missed the greater gift. Some have missed the greatest gift God has sent. It is your opportunity to help them discover what it really is.
On behalf of Joy and I and the entire Network Leadership Team, have a blessed Christmas, and together, let’s expect 2017 to be our greatest year to SHINE!
Galatians 6:9-10
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have the opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
