What Are You Dreaming About?
Prov 29:18, “Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.” (ESV)
What prophetic vision has God given you for this New Year? What new things will you try? What changes in your ministry will you make? What are you dreaming about?
You can call it prophetic vision, New Year resolutions or God-dreams; we all need them. Mark Batterson in his book, In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day, writes a lot about the power of God-dreams. Batterson says, doing minus dreaming is just a waist of energy and dreaming minus doing equals disobedience. But, dreaming plus doing results in exponential kingdom impact. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to waste my energy or be found disobedient to God. I desire for my efforts to produce exponential kingdom impact. For this to happen I must be obedient to do the dreams God places in my heart and soul.
So I ask you again: What are you dreaming about?
A few Sundays back, I had the privilege to be at my home church in Bend, Faith Christian Center, with Pastor Mike Johnson. That morning Pastor Mike shared about the need to set goals. He gave some very practical tips on goal-setting, here are a few that stuck out to me:
After God gave Mary his prophetic vision of her to carry the Christ-child, she responded by asking: How will this be? God said through Gabriel the angel, “For nothing will be impossible with God,” (Luke 1:37 ESV).
Let’s start believing for the IMPOSSIBLE to become POSSIBLE in 2012.
