VISION by Pamela Weston
This past Sunday I sat back and watched in awe as a vision for a special needs ministry to children spread throughout our church. Before the morning was over we had a list of individuals, including professionals, willing to help in this area.
I love it when God gives the church a vision, then equips, and finally brings that vision into fulfillment! Proverbs 29:18 tells us that “where there is no vision, the people perish.” As a church and as individuals we need that constant breath of God’s revelation filling our lives. Many Christians live out their lives just existing from day to day. They have no personal sense of a divine summons or leading from God. This is not how God intends for us to live. He has a plan and purpose for our lives and he expects us to fulfill it.
Vision motivates us. It gives us a reason to do what we do. Without vision we have no direction, we simply wander aimlessly like the Israelites did in the wilderness. Without vision, we “perish”. We get fatigued in our walk with God. To keep vision fresh and alive in our lives we need to immerse ourselves in God’s Word. It is through His word that God speaks to us and it is through God’s word that he imparts his vision into our lives.
Keeping vision requires you to take a risk. When we receive vision from God, we need to act. Otherwise, vision becomes a dream, something that only sits in the back of our minds. To act on that vision, means that we may have to go out on on a limb with God. We must have faith that He will see us through it. It’s God’s vision. Stretch, learn, and listen. Have faith and God will see you through.
Without vision there is no sense of meaningful purpose when our days become filled with routine and drudgery. Vision helps keep us vibrant and alive in our walk with the Lord. Vision is like a shot of adrenaline to the soul.
It will be exciting to see this new ministry form and take shape. It will be even more exciting to see how God is going to use it.
What vision has God given you lately?
