Special Missionary Offering
Each year at our Next Generation Ministries Summer Camps, we select two special missionaries to receive our STL and BGMC offering for a specific project.
This year, our BGMC guests will be Daren and Heidi Walker, Missionaries to Durango. Here is a brief overview of how this years' BMGC offerings will help their ministries.
One third of the population of Durango is children. The Walkers goal it to reach the children of Durango through outreaches like sidewalk Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Even among the existing churches, most of the children do not have any type of service or Sunday School class geared toward their age level. The Walkers believe that is important to train leaders to do children’s ministry in their churches. The materials provided by BGMC, such as puppets, portable puppet stages, projector screen and a portable presentation system will help with children’s outreaches and training in Durango, Mexico.
Our STL project for this year will be with International Media Ministries and Missionaries Jerry and Gwen Gibson. Here is a quick word from Jerry on how they will use these STL funds from the camp offerings.
As Directors of IMM (International Media Ministries), we are missionaries to a borderless world! Through the Internet, television, and radio, we are able to take the Gospel, into communities, countries and cultures where ordinary missionaries are not allowed or welcome. IMM has been blessed by STL in the past. In fact, almost all of our equipment over the past 25 years has been purchased through STL giving of students just like yourselves. The challenge is today we are using cameras, and in some cases, technologies which are 16 years old. It is time to move into an HD world with adequate equipment to deliver stories that people in multiple cultures will watch. Your giving will empower us to purchase new High Def cameras and the other necessary equipment to produce stories for years to come which will touch millions of people in many languages with the story of Jesus’ love and power. Thanks for helping us tell the story that changes lives.
I share this information with all you Youth and Children’s Workers so you can communicate the vision--prepare and motivate our campers for these special offerings. Our goal is to raise $1,000 at each camp. I believe we can do it!
