God of The Left Handed by Pamela Weston
"But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him” - I Corinthians 1:27-29
More than 90% of the world is right-handed. That means there are more right-handed people than lefties. If you are left-handed, you are definitely in the minority. Everything in life is made for the right-handed person: door knobs, scissors and tools. Your computer mouse, desks, and even writing is designed for the right-handed person. There was a time when being left-handed had a stigma to it. Teachers would slap student’s hands and tie them behind their backs during writing, eating and other activities to discourage left-handedness. Being left-handed was not desirable.
However, I bet you didn’t know God was left-handed (well kind of). God takes the most unlikely people and uses them for his highest purposes. He took a shepherd boy and killed a giant, later making him King. He took a trembling fearful man hiding in the winepress to lead an army against the Midianites. And who can forget the young teenage girl who would give birth to the Messiah. Everything about God is backwards. He will take everything that you are not and become it for you. I Corinthians 1:18 tells us that “the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” God wants to use you and he CAN use you!
Some day we will all stand and give an account to God for not only what we have done, but also what we have not done. Let’s not be like the wicked and lazy servant who hid his talent in the ground. Let’s allow God to use us - everything we are and everything we are not, so that he can say “well done, good and faithful servant!” What is in your hand that God can use?
(By the way, I’m right handed!)
