Realignment

Not long ago, I was driving my car and realized, as a result of the rough Oregon roads and my driving, the front-end of my vehicle was out of alignment. This was causing my vehicle to naturally pull slightly to the left. Although, I could still drive the car, I knew if the front-end wasn’t realigned soon, it would cause excessive wear and perhaps even become dangerous.
I believe those of us in ministry are aware that life and leadership often bring bumps and bruises that can knock you out of alignment causing damage spiritually, emotionally and relationally. To stay healthy and vibrant as leaders, we must take time to experience realignment. Realignment is the Holy Spirit’s way of keeping us focused and faithful.

Four Actions Helpful In Realigning Your Life and Leadership

REMEMBER YOUR INITIAL CALL INTO MINISTRYRevisit those moments when you felt the prompting and leading of the Lord to pursue ministry. Remembering God’s call on your life helps you get realigned and refocused.
I Timothy 1:9 …who saved us and called us to a holy calling…

MAINTAIN A DAILY TIME OF PRAYER AND DEVOTION
Sincere and intentional times of prayer and devotion have a powerful way of bringing realignment in your life. A humble and honest conversation with the Lord will bring clarity and correction.
Psalm 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!

BE OPEN WITH A TRUSTWORTHY FRIEND
Giving a faithful friend permission to speak into your life is vital in staying in alignment in life and leadership. Having that person for seeking counsel, sharing disappointments, discussing new ideas, confessing missteps or asking for prayer, is huge.
Galatians 6:2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ.

PRACTICE LISTENING AND LEARN FROM OTHER EFFECTIVE MINISTERS
Access to great preachers and great leaders is easier than ever before. Making a habit of weekly tapping into others will enrich and better equip you to stay on track.
Proverbs 1:5 Let the wise listen and add to their learning…
These are helpful ways to be realigned. These are helpful ways to shine brightly this year.
